Abstract painting by Yolanda Gil

I am Yolanda Gil, and abstract painting is at the centre of my artistic practice. From my studio in Fuengirola, Malaga, I work with color, matter, texture and gesture, choosing different techniques and supports according to the needs of each work.

Process and experimentation

I develop each painting slowly through layers, decisions and changes. Intuition goes hand in hand with sustained work and close attention to what emerges during the process. With brushes, palette knives and other tools, I build surfaces with different rhythms, marks and densities.

Techniques and supports

I work in mixed media, acrylic and pastel on board or paper. My choice of material is part of the development of each piece rather than a single fixed working formula.
