About me

Portrait of Yolanda Gil in her studio

I am a self-taught painter based in Fuengirola, Málaga. Art has been part of my life since childhood and, over the years, has become the space where I explore emotion, memory and transformation.

I hold a degree in English Philology from the University of Málaga and previously worked as a secondary-school teacher. My path in painting has developed alongside this, through practice, study and learning with Fine Arts tutors.

As a member of the Málaga Association of Visual Artists (APLAMA), I am part of an active artistic community and participate in both group and solo exhibitions.

My career includes group exhibitions connected with APLAMA, appearances at Studio 33, and exhibitions held in Málaga and on the Costa del Sol. Explore my career and exhibitions .

I work mainly with mixed media. Colour, layers, textures, gesture and a variety of materials are part of an experimental process in which each work gradually builds its own language.

I believe in art’s ability to channel emotions, tell stories and open spaces for contemplation. I paint to express what sometimes cannot be put into words and to offer viewers a place from which they can connect freely with their own emotions.

Each work emerges slowly: from intuition, contact with materials, sustained work and the excitement of discovering new ideas. I paint because it is vital to me: a necessity and a way of being renewed each day.
